This is truly every parent’s worst nightmare. Michael Blosil, son of the legendary Marie Osmond, died this weekend after leaping from an eighth-story apartment in Los Angeles.
He was just eighteen years old.
Michael, one of Marie’s eight children with ex-husband Brian Blosil, struggled with depression for years. In 2007, at just sixteen, he checked in to a rehab facility for reasons that were never disclosed (though one can speculate, probably quite accurately, that he was seeking help for depression). Marie spoke to People magazine after his release, acknowledging that “Those kinds of things are really very hard for a teenager to deal with. And if he ever wants to talk about it ... he will, but it has to be their choice. It's not my choice."
Once out of rehab, Michael joined his mother in Las Vegas and finished his last year of high school with a triumphant 3.9 GPA. Things were looking up – he was feeling better, and was considering scholarships to “some wonderful colleges. I couldn’t be more proud of him,” Marie said.
It is heartbreaking to think that, just three years later, Michael would succumb to the depression he’d spent a lifetime fighting against. He reportedly left a note behind that said his life-long battle left him feeling as though he had no friends, and could never fit in.
Marie released a statement shortly after news of her son’s death broke, saying, "My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time."
One doesn’t have to be a parent to realize that teenage depression is real, and should always be treated as such. The loss of a child under circumstances like these is heartbreaking, and our hearts go out to Marie and her family as they struggle with this devastating loss.

I've faced depression, as have a number of my relatives. The suicide of an 18-year-old chills me and my heart breaks for his family.

Why did she not stay home and look after her family. She had the money but just wanted to adopt children to make out how good she was. I do not think she is religious in any way. Feel she is a fraud along with her brother. Did not even bother about her own baby and put over the depression act.
